Process steps that go into the quote

My first task with a new print design is at the computer where the artwork is prepared for printing the film positives that ultimately transfer to the screen press.  Color separation software is used to determine how many colors are required for the job. If the artwork involves photographic images, I convert any shaded areas into halftone dots that will transfer to the print.

Once the film positives and color separations are complete, the printed transparency films are taken to the exposure unit where high intensity UV light burns the image onto the screens. The screens are pre-coated in my darkroom with a photosensitive emulsion that are developed in my spray booth to wash out the areas where ink will pass through the screen mesh.

I'm currently purchasing my blank shirts from www.jiffyshirts.com and you can look through the very large selection of shirts available to get an understanding of the cost.  As a general rule, I prefer to print on 100% cotton but I've had excellent results with a poly blend like 60/40. 

Cost is going to depend on the complexity and number of colors, whether the design is printed on just the front or both front/back. The other factor is quantity.  The online companies I've found doing single custom 'your logo here' orders are using the 'iron-on' transfer.  My setup fees for a single color print job will be in the $50 ballpark and subsequent screens/colors are more like $30 each.
